In addition to spreading the word about this project, you can help us promote kids’ literacy by contributing in one of two ways:
We are so grateful for your participation no matter which of these methods you use. Please note that we are very careful about privacy: we will never share your information. Also please note that your contribution is not tax-deductible.
Remember Summer Book Bag for all your gift-giving occasions!
Make a contribution to Summer Book Bag in honor of someone else! We have created cards that you can send that will make your gift personal and unique and that will tell someone you have made a contribution in their honor. These are available in Holiday and Beach themes, in two formats to download:
- E-Cards: Images (.png files) to email or to post on social media.
- Cards: PDF documents that you can print at home, fold into a card, write your own message (if you like), then mail in a standard card envelope, add to a gift basket, or put under the tree.
We work on this project all year long. June 1 is our cut-off date for when we use what we’ve collected so far to support the current year’s project. Any funds not used are carried over. This gets books into the kids’ hands before they leave school for the summer. Here’s how that works:
- Contributions received between June 2, 2019 through June 1, 2020 were used to support Summer Book Bag 2020.
- Contributions received between June 2, 2020 through June 1, 2021 will be used to support Summer Book Bag 2021.
- And so on …
About processing fees
The fees that we pay depend on where we collect the funds. For example, GoFundMe charges 2.9% plus 30-cents per transaction. PayPal will not charge us a fee as long as you do not check the box that says “Paying for goods or a service?”.
